I love music, nature, mythology and generally all things art-related.

I enjoy making art of any kind (except maybe sculpture...) and have a special love for animation and film-making.

You can see my animations on my youtube page, just please ignore the username - it was a joke from a few years ago but is haunting me nowadays...

I don't believe it: De Rosa have disbanded.

I don't know why and really don't want to believe it, but they have, barely 3 months after releasing their incredible second album...

I feel beyond miserable.

It' s funny, it's 3 years (almost to the day) since I first heard 'Camera', and one year since I randomly thought to google it and came across their last.fm page, and fell in love after hearing their Appendices songs...If I'm sounding like a deranged and obsessive stalker right now, I promise I'm not - I used to record music videos late at night off MTV and kept a record of the names and dates for each VHS tape (okay, maybe slightly obsessive...)...and I generally organise my music according to month and so associate certain music with certain dates and times of the year...so to me they were always a June/winter band...oddly fitting then, I guess, for them to end now...

There were just so many strange co-incidences that came along with my discovery and rediscovery of the band, and it all felt so right, like it was meant to be and destined for something great...sounds stupid I know but I can't explain it...They were just so damn good, they really were, and I really had high hopes for them.

I really don't know what to say. I'm sorry it's come to this and am sad to have never seen them play. But I am grateful for all the music, and feel honoured to have worked with them on the videos for

'Robin Song'

and

'Nocturne For An Absentee'.

Chemikal Underground put it well in their eulogy:

"De Rosa's music was as complex as it was melodic - it exercised the head as well as the heart and their live performances could be as thrilling as any we've ever seen."

Sadly their website seems to be gone, but you can still hear their music on Last.FM and Myspace, pick up ' Prevention ' (and 'Mend' ) if you come across it, it truly is a great album from a band who really were something special.

I Wish them all the best and hope they continue making music, if not in this form then in another.

* * *

...otherwise, I'm busy with a new animation, trying to do some more painting and to put together a personal website, all of which is taking longer than it should...hello by the way, I hope you are all well!

  • Mood: Miserable
  • Listening to: De Rosa - A Prelude to Entropic Doom
  • Reading: and weeping...

I've seen your animation with the caged birds on youtube, which was great, and happened to stumble upon your latest animation on here. I knew it had to be made by the same person just because of your recognizable style which is gorgeous. Not to mention the DeRosa soundtrack which you got me listening to now.Keep up the great work!
